A memorandum of understanding was signed by the three provinces’ leaders at the third meeting on tourism cooperation between Quang Tri, Savannakhet and Mucdahan provinces held in Quang Tri Province, on July 27, 2007.
Under the MoU, the three provinces will work together to hold a festival to boost tourism to five central Lao provinces.
The three provinces have seen a two fold increase in the number of tourists since they signed a minutes of tourism cooperation in Mucdahan Province on September 5, 2006.
They have also been active in promoting the East-West economic corridor tours by hosting seminars, fairs, and sporting competitions as well as distributing leaflets and VCD in the languages of English, Vietnamese, Thai and Lao.
